Look at full galleries, not highlights

Photographers typically show their best images. Ask to see complete wedding galleries, at least 3, 4 full events, to understand consistency, how they handle difficult lighting, and their actual range. You'll spot patterns in posing, color grading, and moment selection.

Watch for what matters to you

If you want environmental portraits, check if their images show recognizable locations or mostly close, ups. If you prefer natural moments, count posed vs. candid shots. If you care about detail work, see how often they photograph rings, flowers, and décor. These aren't good or bad, they're just indicators of what the photographer prioritizes.

Ask about their process

Request a consultation and ask specific questions: How many hours do they typically shoot? Do they direct you or mostly observe? How do they handle family formals? What's their backup plan for bad weather? Their answers reveal whether their working style matches what you actually want on the day.
